Sustainability by Design
At ABE&RE Canada, we believe environmental responsibility is not an afterthought. It is built into everything we design.
Good design solves problems, great design solves them without costing the planet. That is the standard we hold ourselves to on every project, whether we are specifying materials, choosing manufacturing processes, or refining the details of a finished product.
We work with sustainable materials, energy-efficient technologies, and eco-conscious processes because the problems worth solving today demand it.
Indigenous Land Acknowledgement
ABE&RE Canada acknowledges that we live, work, and build across the ancestral homelands and treaty territories of Indigenous peoples throughout Canada. This includes the Numbered Treaties from 1 to 11 across the prairies and northern regions, the Robinson Treaties and Upper Canada Treaties in Ontario, the Douglas Treaties and modern agreements in British Columbia, and the Peace and Friendship Treaties in Atlantic Canada. We also recognize the unceded and traditional territories of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples from coast to coast to coast.
We recognize the deep and enduring relationship Indigenous peoples hold with these lands and waters. This connection, rooted in stewardship, culture, and identity, long predates Confederation and continues to shape these territories today. The buildings we design and build exists within these homelands, and we approach that responsibility with respect for the communities whose lands we work on.
We are committed to meaningful consultation with Indigenous communities and to supporting Indigenous participation in the work we do. We continue to learn, to listen, and to build our understanding as a team. We honour the spirit and intent of the treaties and uphold our responsibilities under the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. We do this not only because it is required, but because it reflects the way we choose to conduct our business.
